Overwatch 2: Blizzard's 2020 Developmental Updates

Blizzard Entertainment revealed Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon 2019. Halfway through 2020, the development of the game slowly comes to life. Game director Jeff Kaplan hasn’t revealed the exact release date yet, but the game is confirmed to be released on PS4 this year.

Gameplay

Blizzard released a 3-minute trailer in November 2019, showing the same faces and characters but in a new era. The game features PvE and PvP modes, so there will be a story experience game mode soon.

Version 2 has new maps and heroes, too. The additional heroes will come afterward, but details about the new map, locations, and story modes are out.

Push (new map) – A symmetrical map where teams battle to take control of a robot in a central location, then deliver it towards the enemy base. The team who can push the robot on the enemy side wins the game.

Rio de Janeiro and Gothenburg (new locations) – Blizzard added two iconic international locations. The game will highlight the streets and scenic locations of the two cities.

Four-Player Mission (new game mode) – A team with four players each can complete intense missions to improve player experience.

Replayable Hero Mission (new game mode) – Players can level up their heroes and unlock more customizable options by replaying Hero Missions.

Overwatch players who download Overwatch 2 will have their loot, experiences, and in-game currencies transferred to a new account. They get to keep skins, player icons, and emotes.

Design

Since the story is set in a new era. Overwatch 2 will have more dynamic environments, larger arenas, improved atmospheric effects, and new character designs. Blizzard improved the 3D renderings of all the game’s visuals.

On Blizzard’s website, the promo page for Overwatch 2 has a feature where visitors can view the transformation of the old heroes. Visitors can use the slider to see the new costumes and 3D rendering of their favorite heroes.

Blizzard wants to surprise everyone with the release of Overwatch 2 in 2020, so the dev team is being very careful to avoid the leak of any vital information. At press time, all facts and updates are only available on https://overwatch2.playoverwatch.com/.
